Knight to serve as IMPACT Leader at Troy
Eliya Knight of Oneonta has been selected to serve as 2019 IMPACT Leader at Troy University. IMPACT is the annual new student orientation program held each summer at the Troy campus. As an IMPACT Leader, Knight will help new students get acquainted with the University and register for classes.
Troy University honors
Eliya Knight of Oneonta and Alexandria Soli of Hayden earned a 4.0 GPA and were named to the Chancellor’s List at Troy University for the spring semester and Term 4 of the 2018/2019 academic year.
Vanishia Denson of Hayden was named to the Provost’s List at Troy University for the same period. This honor includes students who are registered for at least 12 hours and have a GPA of at least 3.65.
Gadsden State pinning ceremonies
Gadsden State Community College Division of Health Sciences recently held pinning ceremonies for several programs. Registered nursing graduates included: Samantha Fiaccato, Jessica Isbell, and Elisheba Skillman, all of Altoona, and James Keith Atkinson of Oneonta.
UA students participate in summer cooperative education
More than 280 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative, and advanced education experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA’s Cooperative Education Program for summer 2019.
Among students participating are: Meghan Claburn, Oneonta, will be working at Alabama Power. Trent Tatum, Cleveland, will be working at Jordan & Skala Engineers, Inc.
In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Kalle Killough of Oneonta and Tiffany Zorn of Hayden are among Troy University’s Spring Semester/ Term 4 2019 graduates.
Maples earns master’s
Matthew Maples of Oneonta was awarded a master’s degree from Georgia State University during the university’s 104th commencement ceremony in May.
