I am a retired educator, a civil libertarian, and a resident of Cleveland for the past 56 years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the press for their coverage of the governmental oppression that is occurring in our small town. A special thanks to Laurie Pitts and The Blount Countian newspaper for their tireless efforts.
Looking back over the years that Cleveland has been a town, I have never seen town business conducted so secretively. Meetings were always conducted openly, people were allowed to exercise their right to free speech, and employees were treated fairly and respectfully.
The current government of Cleveland is a disgrace to all citizens. Many people, living and deceased, strived to make Cleveland a better town in which to live. Will we allow all of their work to be in vain?
