Ellis Reid

ELLIS LEE REID, age 80, of Oneonta went to his heavenly home on April 5, 2024. He was born Dec. 12, 1943, to Herman Ellis and Inez Sunshine Bynum Reid in Oneonta, Ala.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Hudson Reid; children Kevin Ellis Reid (Michele), Kristi Reid Hood (Jonathan), Kimberly Jana Bueto (Fredrick Jr.); grandchildren Amber Nicole Reid, Ashley Reid Hogan (Tyler), Caleb Reid Hood (Sheridan), AnnaGrace Micaiah Shafer (Brock), Josiah Campbell Hood, Angelina Faith Hood, Adrianna Eden Hood, Korey Ava Bueto, Pierce Jett Bueto,; great grandson Samuel Reid Hogan; sister Ellie Anne Price; brother in law James Robert Husdon (Bonnie); sister in law Laura Jane Reeves Reid, Earlene Vick Hudson, Aline Robertson Hudson; and host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Herman Ellis and Inez Sunshine Bynum Reid, brothers Harmon Carl Reid, Elmer Dan Reid, George Alonzo Reid, and brother-in-laws Kenneth Price, Jerry Hudson, and Johnny Hudson.

He was married to Marilyn June Hudson, Oct. 6, 1963. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past October. He retired in 2021 from Lisco, after serving 37 years as Vice President. During this time, he worked side by side with his brother George. He traveled all throughout the Southeast, not only performing sales and survey duties, but also forming friendships and bonds that lasted throughout his life.

As a faithful witness, he served as a bi-vocational Minister of Music at Saks Baptist Church Anniston, Fowler Springs Baptist Church Blountsville, and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Oneonta. He served as a proud member of the Alabama Army National Guard for 30 plus years. He was able to retire at the rank of First Sergeant and spent the majority of his military career in Company B 877th Eng. B.W.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Oneonta with Dr. Larry Gipson and Bro. Herman Pair presiding. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery with Randy Hudson, Roger Hudson, Eddie Hudson, Karl Price, Caleb Hood, Josiah Hood, and Pierce Bueto serving as pallbearers.
