Martha Lou Graves Jones, 76, of Blountsville passed away Monday April 13, 2026, at UAB Hospital. Martha was born Feb. 18, 1950, in Cleveland, the daughter of James Andrew “Jim” Graves and Jamie Lou Davis Graves. She grew up in the Royal Community and graduated from J.B. Pennington High School in 1968 as the Valedictorian of her class. 

She married Don Jones Sept. 14, 1968, and began her studies at Auburn University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Math Education in 1973. Martha later received her master’s degree from UAB. She taught at J.B. Pennington for 26 years and then an additional 10 years at Wallace State Community College. She was a faithful member of Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years Don Jones; son Chad Jones and wife, Lauren; daughter Candy Jones Long and husband, Chris; grandchildren Benjamin, Anna Grace, Harrison, Grayson, James and Elizabeth; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Jamie Graves and brother Don Graves.

Funeral service was Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home with Matt Jordan and Seth Kelly officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home. Chad Jones, Chris Long, Benjamin Jones, Harrison Jones, Grayson Jones, James Long, and Patrick Graves served as pallbearers.
