Jay Kiplian “Kip” Cornelius

Jay Kiplian “Kip” Cornelius, 62, of Guntersville, passed away Tuesday, Jan, 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born May 27, 1963, in Birmingham, the son of William Jay Cornelius and Sandra Brown. He was a graduate of Oneonta High School Class of 1981 and was currently working for Lowes. 

He is survived by his wife Melissa Kay Cornelius; children Jay Kajemund Cornelius and William Wyatt Cornelius; mother Sandra Bagwell (J.D.); father William Jay Cornelius (Mary); sister Kitty Cornelius Cheak (Spencer); brother Scott Cornelius; niece and nephews  Madelyn Cheak (fiancé Joshua Pearson), Chase Cornelius (Emily), and Noah Cheak (Jordan). 

He was preceded in death by his first wife Pamela Williams Cornelius; sister-in-law Gail Cornelius; and nephew River John Cornelius. 

The family has chosen to honor his wishes with cremation with no formal service at this time. Gober Funeral Chapel assisted the Cornelius family with cremation arrangements.
