Hershell R. McAlpine, 79,

of Blountsville, passed away
Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025,
at Cullman Regional Med-
ical Center. Mr. McAlpine
was born in Blount County
Dec. 15, 1946, the son of
Glenn Hershell McAlpine
and Bonnie Jean Bryson
McAlpine.
He was a veteran, having
served in the US Navy, and
was a logger and trapper for many years. Hershell
loved his family and had a passion for the out-
doors.
He was married to Mary Jo McAlpine for 41
years at the time of her passing in July of this year.
He was a member of Mulberry Missionary Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his children Quentin (Ma-
riah) Killian, Karen (Michael) Thrasher, Kevin
(Monica) McAlpine, Courtney (Paul) Glenon, and
Debra (Tommy) Watkins; host of grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; siblings Earl (Denise)
McAlpine, William (Betty) McAlpine, Jerry (Teresa)
McAlpine, Keith (Joyce) McAlpine, Glenda “Sissy”
Comier, Linda McAlpine (Michael), and Tammy
McAlpine Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn
Hershell and Bonnie Jean McAlpine; wife Mary Jo
McAlpine; daughter Dana Killian; son David Kil-
lian; and grandson Perry Kelly.
Funeral service was Saturday Dec. 20, 2025,
at 11 a.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home with Tim
Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mulberry Cem-
etery. Visitation was Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until
service time at 11 a.m.
Pallbearers were Kevin McAlpine, Paul Glenon,
Izayiah Glenon, Alek Wissinger, Andrew Hawkins,
and Jonathan Gable.
