2-year-old Boy Dies After Shooting in his Home

Wednesday morning around 10 a.m., the  Blount County Sheriff's Office and Hayden Police Department received a call that a child had been shot at a home on Orchard Circle in Hayden. When authorities arrived at the scene, the child was found unresponsive. The 2-year-old boy was transported Children's of Alabama. Authorities later confirmed that the boy passed away.
While the investigation is ongoing, initial indications are that the 2-year-old found the gun and the shooting was accidental. No other information has been released. We will continue to follow this breaking story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
