Meloney Smith

Meloney Smith, 80, was born
June 8, 1945, in Blount Coun-
ty, and raised by her parents
James Willie and Bertha Mount
Alldredge in the Rock Springs
Community. Besides her par-
ents, she is preceded in death
by her husband John Lee Smith,
her son Michael, her sister Betty
Atchley, and her brothers Odean
and James Alldredge.
She was an active member of Jehovah's Witness until
her death on Oct. 14, 2025, and was baptized in 1968
in Miami. Since then, her life spent as a volunteer and
pioneer will not go unnoticed for she has helped many
learn the wonderful truths found in the Bible about God.
Meloney enjoyed telling stories and writing about her
experiences of growing up in Alabama. Some of these
stories have been compiled and published and are left
in the care of her granddaughters.
She is survived by her children Tammy Davis, Gunt-
ersville; Shane (Retta) Smith, Horton; Lori (Simon) Zhou,
Tennessee; grandchildren Hali (Joseph) West, Hunter
Mason, Jessica Ogle, Nashea Mayo, Kelly Jennings, Ada
Smith; great grandchildren Brently, Ava, Haven, Antho-
ny,Taylor, Layla and Dani, great-great grandchild Leray;
sister Barbara (William) Hill; nephew Zack; and niece,
Jessica.
Burial will be at Rock Springs Cemetery, Blountsville.
