Elita Jean Smithey, age 71, of Remlap, passed away Sept. 15,
2025. She was a member of Locust Fork First Baptist Church
where she was in the choir and taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by parents Edmond and Skipper
Gilbert; and brothers Chuck Gilbert and Dale Gilbert.
She is survived by husband Alvin Smithey; sons Daniel Bryan
Smithey (Jessica) and Christopher Michael Smithey (Brittany);
daughter Dawn Smithey; 11 grandchildren; brother Richard Gil-
bert (Sheila); and sisters Sue Waldrop (Jon) and Anne Russon.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025
at Locust Fork First Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A
funeral service will be held at the church beginning at 1 p.m. with
Randy Cater presiding.
