Charles R. Cleveland

Charles R. Cleveland age 86, of Horton, died Thursday, July 17, 2025.

A funeral service was held Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Global Methodist Church with Dan Godwin, Christopher Cornett, David Poole, and Ricky Holmes officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Visitation was Sunday, July 20, 2025, from noon until service time at the church.

Mr. Cleveland was born in McClarty, Ala., on May 27, 1939, to Fred and Lilla Ivey Cleveland. He was a retired brick mason.

Mr. Cleveland is survived by his wife of more than 65 years Helen Cleveland of Horton; sons Ricky and Angela Cleveland of Oneonta and Philip and Trina Cleveland of Horton; daughter Wendy and Gabe Fulenwider of Horton; grandchildren Michael and Mattie Cleveland, David and Tessa Cleveland, Joseph and Becca Cleveland, Luke and Kristina Cleveland, Travis and Anna Lea Cleveland, Tyler Cleveland, Jackson Cleveland, Charlee Fulenwider, Griffin Fulenwider, and Gavin Fulenwider; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lilla Cleveland and eight Siblings.  

Pallbearers were his grandsons Michael Cleveland, David Cleveland, Travis Cleveland, Joseph Cleveland, Luke Cleveland, Jackson Cleveland, Griffin Fulenwider, and Gavin Fulenwider. Honorary pallbearer was Ismeal Salas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to “Bright Little Minds,” a nonprofit foundation for children with autism, 3728 Woodvale Road, Birmingham, AL 35223.
