Julia Anne Corr
May 29, 2025
Julia Anne Corr went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, May 19, 2025. The 74 year old Blount County native lead a life of joy filled with laughter, continual learning, and deep faith. She was born on September 21, 1950 to Doris Studdard Corr and R.C. Corr, Jr. She was the oldest of three children and attended Elyton School for cerebral palsy students, and achieved her high school degree. At age 16, Judy was chosen to be the star of the Celebrity Parade for Cerebral Palsy. As the Selected Theme Child she exemplified the typical teenager who “knows what she wants and has the grit and guts to get it’. With that ambition, she wrote a book at the age of 18. This passion was exceeded only by her love for reading. She was an avid reader and loved reading The Holy Bible, psychology books, English literature, and Facebook. Her daily devotion and walk in faith gave her peace and an unrelenting determination. Her broad social connection, via Facebook, gave her a window into an expansive world of travel and interactions with people far and wide. Her irresistible humor and ability to take things in stride lead to making friends with total strangers and a fulfilled life.
Judy lived in Birmingham, Alabama during her youth. She returned to Oneonta to live the final 20 plus years of her life and was the longest residing resident of Magnolia House. The family would like to thank the lifelong loving and compassionate caregivers that contributed to the lighthearted daily happiness that was Judy’s hallmark. She was an inspiration and joy to all who had the honor of knowing her.
Judy was pre-deceased by her father R.C. Corr, Jr. and survived by her mother Doris Corr, her sister, Joan Corr, her brother Bryan Corr, Sr. (Tina), Nieces, Christy Trotter (Blake), Lauren Corr (Tyler Shin), Kelly von Schmid (Brian), and nephew Bryan Corr, Jr. (Daphne). Her extended family includes caregivers who she loved very much. A private family service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Don Godwin, the minister at Magnolia House will preside. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Blount County Children’s Center or The Oak Hill Cemetery Fund.
A healthy Blount County requires great community news.
