Charles Hugh attended Oneonta High School where he stood out as a three-sport athlete and class president. He graduated in 1956, and from there went to Auburn University, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961. He started his career at Stockham Valves and Fittings in Birmingham, where he worked for over 20 years before forming his own companies, Tennessee Valley Supply and Tennessee Valley Metals. After his retirement in 2005, he stayed active golfing, fishing, and doting on his granddaughter Mae. He could often be found at the ballpark watching Mae’s softball games.
Throughout his life Charles Hugh always put his family first, from coaching little league baseball, to attending dance recitals, to volunteering for community and church activities. His faith was always a guiding force in his life. The Puckett’s were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Center Point, where Charles Hugh served as deacon.
After the death of his wife Barbara in 2015, he married high school classmate Carol Murphree Shelton in December 2016, inheriting an extended family that he adored. He and Carol loved to travel, often embarking on spontaneous weekend trips to out-of-the-way places. Charles Hugh and Carol attend Lester Memorial Methodist Church in Oneonta.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, at Lester Memorial Methodist Church in Oneonta.
