The second annual Vegetable Festival will be held this Saturday, July 13, at the Blount County Farmer’s Market. Located on the south side of the Blount County Oneonta Agri-Business Center, the event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon and will offer fresh fruits and vegetables from some of the county’s finest growers.
Locals and visitors will also enjoy prize giveaways from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., as well as free tomato sandwiches prepared by Charlie B’s. Peoples Bank will also be providing free hotdogs and drinks during the festival. WCRL will be broadcasting live from 8 a.m. until noon, and as always, admission and parking are free of charge.
Customers and vendors alike enjoy the market’s selection and visiting with each other. In addition to being a part of Blount County history, it has been said that coming to the farmer’s market is “like a family reunion” and “a wonderful place to share the experience of a farmer’s market.”
The vendors want everyone to know that they appreciate the support of the community and consider it a “win, win” for all – fresh fruits and vegetable for the consumer while supporting the local growers. Johnny and Martha Roberts said, “Farmers work hard to bring customers fresh produce. It’s a seven-day-a-week job. Come out and support our efforts. Without our customers, we could not do it.Thanks to all the customers for coming down.”
