Margaret Robinson “Baby Sis” Polk will be 100 years old Oct. 22. She was born in 1919 to Nellie Aniton and Roy Robinson as the fourth of seven children. She attended school in Oneonta and worked at the restaurant in the Oneonta bus station and as a cook and housekeeper for the Bains family.
She married Ollie Polk on Feb. 27, 1937, at age 18. They had five children: Margueretta Polk, Norris Isaac Polk, Roy Allen Polk, Margaret Ann Polk, and Linda Nell Polk. She has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, dancing, drinking coffee, and playing bingo. After living in Cleveland, Ohio, for a time, she currently lives with daughter Linda Nell Polk-Simpson (Larry) in Savannah, Ga.
A birthday celebration will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Charlie B’s Restaurant, 300 Sixth Street South, Oneonta.
