Parker honored

Geoffery Parker of Remlap has been named to the Chancellor’s List at Troy University for the summer semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. The Chancellor’s List honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of 4.0.

OTELCO welcomes Edwards

Jeffery Edwards will serve as outside plant engineer in OTELCO’s Blountsville office. The Arab resident brings 19 years of telecommunications experience with BellSouth and AT&T.

Dodd graduates

Elijah Dodd of Trafford graduated from Troy University during Summer semester with a bachelor of science degree.

OTELCO welcomes Mikkelsen

Jonathan Mikkelsen has been hired as an installation and repair technician with OTELCO. He will work out of the Oneonta plant office. Mikkelsen earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Jacksonville State University and is a resident of Altoona.

90th birthday

Twins Mary “Fay” Smith and Lillian “Ray” Glen will celebrate their 90th birthday on Aug. 10. The pair were born in Selma in 1929 to Hershell and Wesley Haynes. Samford University Dean’s List

Samford University recognizes 1,519 students named to the 2019 spring semester Dean’s List. Among those are: Haley Harbison and Sadie Odom of Hayden, and Madison Cox of Oneonta. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 GPA while attending at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

Satter graduates

U.S. Air Force Airman Tristan E. Satter graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, San Antonio, Tex. Satter completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Snead State students place at Phi Beta Lamdba National Conference

Eight Snead State students participated in competitions held as part of the Phi Beta Lambda National Conference held in San Antonio, Tex., in June. Among the competitors was Breanna Mitchell of Horton. Mitchell placed seventh in the forensic accounting event.
