Snead State Community College recognized the academic achievement of students at its recent spring induction ceremony for the Theta Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Clark appointed president of Otelco

On May 14, Otelco announced that Richard A. Clark had been appointed president of the company, reporting to Rob Souza, CEO and director of Otelco. Quilters Guild scholarships

Kaitlyn McAnnally, Cleveland, and Gabrielle Roberts, Southeastern, are recipients of $1,000 scholarships from the Blount County Quilters Guild. McAnnally is the daughter of Kevin McAnnally and Sherrie Horton. She will attend JSU and study biology, with plans to transfer to UAB to obtain a degree in orthodontics. Roberts will attend UAB in the fall.

Breanna Mitchell of Horton won first place in the accounting for professionals category at the Phi Beta Lambda Alabama State Leadership Conference in April. The win secures her place in the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Tex., in June.

Oneonta, Southeastern place in AMSTI STEM challenge

On Friday, April 5, around 400 students converged on the campus of Wallace State Community College in Hanceville for Athens State’s inaugural AMSTI STEM challenge. The event drew second- through sixth-graders from Limestone County, Athens City, Cullman County, Blount County, and Oneonta City schools.
