Robert W. Bowman, 66, of Warrior died following a plunge from the U.S. 31 bridge over the Locust Fork River in Warrior last Thursday morning.
Witnesses reported seeing the man get out of his car on the bridge, look over the side, then back at the road before jumping, according to Warrior Police Chief Ray Horn. He was found in the river and pulled to shore, dead on the scene, by the first officer to arrive. The drop from the bridge to the river exceeds 100 feet, Horn said.
Horn said no information on Bowman’s reason for jumping has been determined in the days since it happened. He added that he was acquainted with Bowman but knew of no reason for him to have taken his own life.
“You just have to wonder what someone was thinking to do something like that,” Horn said.
