Two men plead guilty

A pair of Blount County men have pleaded guilty to felony offenses.

Jonathan Kyle Dillard, 42, formerly of Hayden, pleaded guilty to one count of first degree assault and two counts of third degree assault. He was originally charged with second degree sodomy and and two counts of second degree sexual abuse by a Blount County grand jury.

“The plea agreement was entered into with consent from the victim and her family,” said Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.

“The victim was very relieved to have the case concluded without having to testify. Testifying about these matters is very difficult for children.”

Dillard was sentenced to 15 years on the first degree assault and one year on each of the third degree assault charges. Third degree assault is a misdemeanor.

Felton Anderson, 49, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty on two separate cases.

He pleaded guilty to the June 2014 murder of Jimmy Cotton and also to an unrelated charge of second degree burglary.

“It is always good to resolve serious matters without the need for a trial while ensuring that the defendants will serve serious prison time,” said Casey.“We were able to achieve that in this case.”

Both men were also fined and ordered to pay court costs and victims assessment fees.
