Thanks to those who came to the rodeo

Now that the dust has settled and the show is back on the road, I want to thank all of the fine folks in and around Blount County for coming out to the 30th annual Blount County Pro Rodeo. This year’s rodeo was the most successful rodeo of the past five years due in part to local support of businesses and individuals.

A special note of gratitude goes to the Agri-Business Center’s Livestock Committee for partnering with local businesses to bring the rodeo to town year after year. My sincerest wish is that the local businesses that support the rodeo will reap the benefits of that support. Hats off to Patti Moss-Williams for the layout and design of the rodeo program and to the center secretary, Joan Epps, for her energy, enthusiasm, and dedication.

We are indebted to Ron Gholson and the staff of The Blount Countian for reporting on the rodeo for two consecutive weeks. A special note of thanks goes to all of our volunteers, in particular the staff of Superior Bank, Tim Dawson and Phillip Norris and Wayne Shaddix and Tim Chamblee for selling tickets, parking vehicles, and operating spotlights.

If anyone in Blount County missed this year’s rodeo, you missed one of the best. Put April 13 and 14 on your calendar for next year’s rodeo to ensure you don’t miss out.
