Oneonta opened their soccer season in Foley with the Southern Shootout High School Soccer Tournament. They anticipated tough matchups from their seasoned opponents; however, they were no contest for the Redskins.
They began the tournament in a defensive battle against St. Michael Catholic and took their first victory 1-0.
Oneonta then faced Saraland and crushed the Spartans
6-1. The win took the Redskins to the final showdown for the tournament championship against UMS Wright. It was yet another strong defensive game and Oneonta came out with the 1-0 victory.
The recent weather has prevented further games since the tournament, but if they continue this kind of play, the upcoming season looks promising for the Redskins.
Oneonta will host its next game against Douglas Thursday, February 28, at 7 p.m.
