Quilters Guild Scholarships

Stevie Seaver (Hayden), Andrew Laningham (Locust Fork), Jessica Rae Wall (Susan Moore), and Abby Blackwood (Oneonta), received $1,000 scholarships from the Blount County Quilters Guild. The scholarship awards were based on excellence of an essay on “What Quilts Mean to Me.”

Stevie, the daughter of Cindy Seaver and Steve Seaver of Hayden, will major in nursing at Troy University; Andrew, the son of Jackie and Paula Laningham of Cleveland, will be a journalism and marketing major at The University of Alabama; Jessica, the daughter of Gary and Shonda Wall of Horton, will pursue a degree in the dental field at Wallace State Community College; and Abby, the daughter of Hal and Sharon Blackwood of Oneonta, will major in nursing at Jacksonville State University.

The scholarships are funded through proceeds from the Blount County Quilters Guild Quilt Show at Palisades Park during the Covered Bridge Festival and from ticket sales for the annual fundraiser quilt raffle.
