The Cleveland Panthers snatched a decisive victory over the Gaston Bulldogs Friday winning by a score of 58-0. The Panthers dominated the entire game scoring 44 points in the first half. Elijah Longshore accounted for four of the six first half scores for the Panthers, rushing for two and passing for two more. He found Stephen Dean from 18 yards out for the first and Sam Aycock from seven yards out for the second. Pierce Gilliland returned a kickoff for a score and Matt Walker added one more on the ground to give the Panthers a 44-0 lead at halftime.
The Panthers scored twice more in the second half with Noe Hernandez finding the end zone on a pick six and Jacob Johnson scoring on a 29-yard run to bring the Panthers to their final score of 58-0. The Panthers defense also managed to hold the Bulldogs offense to under 100 yards.
Offensively for the Panthers, Longshore went 4-for-8 for 49 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing seven times for 35 yards and two touchdowns. Walker ran four times for 69 yards and a touchdown. Johnson had three carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Dean had three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown. Aycock had one catch for seven yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Pierce Gilliland had three tackles and two interceptions. Karter Adams had 11 tackles, Darrel Gilliland had five tackles and a safety, Logan Richardson had seven tackles, and Hernandez had two tackles and a pick six.
The Panthers advance to 2-4 on the season. They host the Woodland Bobcats (1-4) this week who are coming off a 37-8 loss to Randolph County.
