Oneonta Police Chief Charles Clifton released a statement this week addressing the employment of Sgt. Shane Osborn, who was arrested in St. Clair County for DUI on Aug. 26.
“On Saturday, Aug. 26, an Oneonta Police officer was arrested in St. Clair County for DUI. I was made aware of this arrest after being contacted by Col. Charles Ward of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and the officer was placed on administrative leave with pay.
“An internal investigation of the matter was initiated and the Oneonta Police Department cooperated with the investigation of the matter.
“Subsequently, Sgt. Shane Osborn was terminated by the city of Oneonta on Tuesday, Aug. 29, for matters surrounding the arrest.”
