“BE CREATIVE @ YOUR LIBRARY” is theme of this summer’s reading programs at Oneonta’s and Blountsville’s public libraries.

Oneonta’s program, which begins today, June 3, and ends July 15, is open to young people, preschool through sixth grade, with programs, prizes, story hours, and more. Blountsville’s program features storytime with activities each Friday in June at 10 a.m. Prizes are offered to the top three readers. A pizza party is planned on Awards Day.

BLOUNT COUNTY FARMERS MARKET opens Saturday, June 6. Market days will be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Blount County-Oneonta Agribusiness Center in Oneonta. Animals and smoking will be prohibited underneath the farmers market canopy. County residents are encouraged to take advantage of the fresh fruits and vegetables that will be available and, at the same time, support local farmers. FIFTH ANNUAL ALABAMA 4-H GOLF CLASSIC will be held Thursday, June 11, at FarmLinks Golf Course in Sylacauga. This year’s classic will feature two shotgun starts at 8:30 am. and 1:30 p.m. Coaches and player greats from Alabama, Auburn, and Troy are scheduled to be on hand. Everyone is urged to support Alabama 4-H as the group celebrates its 100th year.

SUSAN MOORE PARK SWAP Farmers in the Susan Moore area invite you to a park swap Saturday, June 13, from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon. Bring your chickens, ducks, pheasants, quail, geese, goats, and bunnies and your plants, shrubs, and flowers to swap, trade, sell, or show. Everyone is invited, not just those with animals or plants or those looking to buy.
