JAMES RICHARD ‘RICK’ JORDAN, 64, died Nov. 3, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Born and raised in Oneonta, he had a successful 44-year career in the commercial fire alarm business for which he received numerous awards for outstanding performance. In 2009 he was presented the lifetime achievement award by the Bluetick Breeders of America for his support, dedication, and promotion of bluetick coonhounds. A member of Forest Lake Baptist Church, he was often heard saying he loved the Lord, his family, and a good blue dog. Predeceasing him were parents Annie Ruth Nix Jordan and J.V. Jordan, nephew Joseph (Joey) Epps.
Surviving are wife Deborah Snead Jordan; son Cason (Amanda) Jordan; granddaughter Kayleigh Jordan; sister Carolyn (Jerry) Epps; nephew Jason (Melissa) Epps.
Funeral services will be today, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Hugh Snead, Billy Hulgan, Jerry Epps, Jim Floyd, Matt Holden, and John Saylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Tibbs, Clint Crawford, William Mills, Keith Pike, members of Forest Lake Baptist Church, employees of Caring Days, and employees of Hospice of West Alabama.
