This year’s Midsummer Night’s Run and Family Event, slated for Saturday, Aug. 10, will once again be raising money for the Oneonta and Blount County education foundations. Families from all over the county can enjoy a time of fellowship and friendly competition, all while helping out both school systems.

This fun-filled night, presented by HomeTown Bank of Alabama, will offer a 5K run, a one-mile fun run for kids, and a family-friendly event with food tents, live music, and inflatables. There will be three levels to register for: the 5K (timed chip, runner shirt, and event entry), Kid Fun Run (runner shirt, finisher medal, and event entry), and the Event Entry (live band, food, and family fun zone).

The celebration, held at the Oneonta Recreation Park, will officially begin at 4:30 p.m., when two fun zones come alive with activities for the children. The on-site runner registration for the 5K will also begin at 4:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., 5K runners will cross the starting line with their sight on finishing the course and possibly winning a medal.

Bring your appetite and prepare for more fun as the food tent and live music will also begin at 6 p.m. Crowd favorite Total A$$et$ will provide entertainment. The “shoot off” for the Kids Fun Run begins at 7 p.m., and the evening will wrap up with a fireworks finale at 9 p.m.

This is the fifth year for the MSNR. HomeTown Bank president Danny Kelly said, “This is a unique opportunity to bring the entire community together to enjoy a first-class event and to raise some money for a great cause while we are at it.”
