Oneonta center fielder Allie Higginbotham signed a letter of intent last week to play softball for Southern Union Community College. Higginbotham plans to major in elementary education and become a coach.

Assistant softball coach Lauren Wilson said during remarks at the ceremony that she is “a great athlete, a great student, and a great person.” Higginbotham will have shoulder surgery soon and miss the rest of the season. Head coach Carol Kenyon said the team will miss Higginbotham’s presence on the field but Southern Union is gaining a leader.
