Warm up your pipes and practice your hymns for the 14th annual Blount County Gospel Choir concert. This year’s concert will be held at Lester Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to this musical occasion.
“The impromptu choir consists of members from different churches in the county with some returning from other places, sort of like a homecoming,” said Chris Green, director of the choir.
Accompanists for the event are Patsy Vickery from Lebanon United Methodist Church, Sharon Vick from Highmound Baptist Church, and Mark Green from Gainesville, Ga.
Mark Green, The Blount County Gospel Quartet, the Randy Burtram Family, and the Green Family will all be performing special music for everyone to enjoy.
During the afternoon, there will be a grand sing-a-long. Choir numbers will include, “Show A Little Bit of Love and Kindness,” “Wings of a Dove,” with soloist David Tidmore, “Sweeter Each Day,” with soloist Pat Tidwell, “I’m Telling the World About His Love,” and more.
Green encourages anyone with a love for music to come out and share in the wonderful experience. “The emphasis in recent years has been to highlight the music of the many rural churches in Blount County and celebrate that heritage,” he said.
