ELWYN ‘DON’ HARTLEY, 83, Palmerdale, passed away on Jan. 31, 2019, at his home. Mr. Hartley was an insurance salesman for 40 years with All State. He was a member of Cross Baptist Church, member of Southside Masonic Lodge, served in the United States Air Force as a SSGT during the Korean War, worked at Foremost Dairy, and was a 1953 graduate of Blount County High School. He was very active in the community and was President of the Young At Heart foundation. He was an avid golfer and loved to watch Alabama football, “Roll Tide.” He is preceded in death by daughter Donna Howell, parents Terry and Clarea Hartley, and nine siblings.
He is survived by wife of 19 years, Carolyn Hartley; sons Howard (Carmen) Hartley and Greg (Kim) Hartley; son-in-law Steven Howell; stepdaughter Patti (Mike) Wray; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mildred Hartley.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with Bro. William Statham and Bro. Jeff Oates officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
