A wreck that occurred Sunday afternoon on the Blount-Marshall County line has resulted in DUI charges for the driver.
Glenda Renay Tedder, 45, of Marshall County, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault (felonies) and four counts of third-degree assault (misdemeanors) in the crash.
The accident happened at 5:39 p.m. on U.S. 231. Four children – ages 2, 7, 9 and 13 – were in the vehicle along with Tedder (the driver) and two other adults. The 9-year-old girl was reported to be the most seriously injured and she was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama with serious injuries.
State Trooper Chuck Daniel said none of the passengers in the Oldsmobile Bravada were wearing seat belts or using child safety seats. Tedder is the mother and grandmother of the victims.
Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said Tedder is being held in the Blount County Correctional Facility. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to determine her blood-alcohol content.
