Board approves multiple contracts

The Blount County Board of Education held its regular business meeting Monday, approving Superintendent Rodney Green’s recommendations for district operations, including 14 contracts and agreements covering a range of district matters. It approved: Agreements and contracts

• Blount County Board of Education’s (BCBOE) memorandum of agreement with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services for fiscal year 2018- 2019.

• BCBOE’s memorandum of agreement with the Alabama State Department of Education.

• BCBOE’s services agreement and business associate agreement with Behavioral One for fiscal year 2018-2019.

• BCBOE’s agreement with Milestones Behavior Group for fiscal year 2018-2019.

• BCBOE’s contract with Perfectly Polished.

• BCBOE’s contract with The Solace Group.

• Cleveland High School’s contract with John McRae to serve as a gate worker for all home basketball games from Nov. 1, 2018, until Feb. 3, 2019.

• Locust Fork High School’s contract with Wendy Oden for basketball concession work during the 2018-2019 season.

• Hayden Middle School’s contract with Walsworth Yearbooks for 2018- 2019 yearbook publication.

• Hayden High School’s contract with Terri Bibb to operate the concession stand for home basketball games from Oct. 1, 2018, until Feb. 28, 2019.

• Hayden High School’s contract with Robert Bradford to announce home varsity basketball games beginning Oct. 1, 2018, until Feb. 28, 2019.

• Hayden High School’s contract with Carolyn Rebecca Hargett as a gate worker for home basketball games from Oct. 25, 2018, until Feb. 28, 2019.

• Hayden High School’s contract with Thrasher Brothers to transport the band to and from Orlando, Fla., in May, 2019.

• Southeastern School’s contract with Hewlett-Packard Financial Services Company. Other matters approved:

• two field trips: (1) Hayden High School’s 8th grade trip to Atlanta on April 18, 2019; (2) Hayden High School’s band trip to Orlando on May 1-5, 2019.

• Susan Moore High School’s Winter Guard “Mini Me” Camp on Dec. 10-14.

• metal roofing bid to Metal Central of Jasper.

• four leave of absence requests and three leave of absence extensions.

• employing Linda Finch as a longterm substitute teacher for Brittany Etheredge, a teacher at Hayden Middle School, from Nov. 5, 2018, until Jan. 28, 2019.

• employing Lauren Hamm as a long-term substitute teacher for Katlin Welborn, a teacher at Hayden Primary School, beginning Nov. 15, 2018, until March 4, 2019.

• employing Carsyn McDowell as an Alternative School teacher at the Blount County Learning Center for the 2018- 2019 school year, beginning Nov. 15, contingent upon certification through the Alabama State Department of Education.

• employing Lisa Payne as a special education aide at Appalachian School beginning Nov. 6, contingent upon passing WorkKeys scores.

• transferring Cynthia Ann Reynolds from the position of physical education aide to school bookkeeper at Cleveland Elementary school beginning Nov. 19.

• the list of substitutes dated Oct. 30, 2018.

A quorum was present at the board’s business meeting with members Jackie Sivley, Ken Benton, and president Chris Latta attending. Member Bill Ferry was absent. The next regular business meeting is Nov. 26, at 1 p.m.
