The Alabama Avengers, a semi-pro football team with several local connections, are off to a quick start.
The Georgia Vikings were the latest victim after the Avengers piled up 31 points over the final two quarters to cruise to a 45-8 victory last Saturday at J.B. Pennington’s William R. Sutton Memorial Stadium.
The team had opened up the season the week before with a 44-0 thrashing of the Georgia Trojans.
The final home game of the year in Blount County will be this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at J.B. Pennington against the Georgia Raiders.
Three more home games are scheduled for the Avengers but they will be played at Springville High School.
Admission is $7 for adults while children 10-and-under are admitted free.
