The Blount County Education Foundation 16th Annual Radio-thon conducted Sept. 25 was a tremendous success! A total of $285,730 was raised to support the projects of the organization, the largest total ever and over $122,000 more than was raised the previous year. Blount County Education Foundation projects include providing summer library and academic camps programs; tutoring and resources for at-risk students; sponsoring the Scholars Bowl and spelling bee programs; sponsoring the High School Ambassadors program; the main project, the classroom grant program. This organization was founded in 1998 and since that time has provided $2,031,270 to support Blount County Schools to implement the mission, to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools. ‘We are so fortunate to have this organization to support our schools, making a tremendous impact on our students. This year’s Radio-thon total shows that the community believes in the Blount County Education Foundation in a remarkable way.
