The Blount County Memorial Museum and Blount County Historical Society are sponsoring the Blount County Memorial Museum Ancestor Swap Meet on Friday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will take place at The Little Brick Church, 112 2nd Ave. East, Oneonta, located across the street from the museum.
Genealogists and family historians will be swapping information with likeminded individuals from across the nation. This swap meet will be included with the Blount County four families’ reunion. The Murphree, Cornelius, Bynum, Tidwell, Allgood, Huffstedler, Phillips, Ellis, Reid, Whited, and Anderson families are just a few of the families included in the swap.
Over 1000 Blount County family files and 500 family books from the museum will be available. Files from the museum are constantly being expanded with new information.
A free short workshop takes place Friday at 10:15 a.m. Those wishing to attend the swap and workshop must register at the museum by Tuesday, Sept. 20. The workshop will accommodate 50 people.
The swap and workshop are free, but lunch will be provided for a small fee. The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. See Amy Rhudy for registration.
