Nasty Nostoc!

County Agent’s Corner

To say we are off to a wet year is an understatement! We were wet going into 2019. As a matter of fact, some cotton and soybeans were never harvested because it was just too wet. However, remembering back on some drought years, I’m not complaining. In 2007 we had very little rain in March and none in April or […]

Between the Lines

I came across the flags in town last week flying at half-mast in honor of those killed in the horrible Lee County tornadoes. I was driving to my house and, as usual, pulled in the driveway and hopped out to unlock the front door. As my hand reached up to slide in the key, all I could think about was […]

Museum open, Heritage books available

The newly renovated Blount County Memorial Museum is now open, says curator Amy Rhudy. She invites everyone to come see the changes. Commission handles routine matters

Following extended discussion of substantive items such as the state gas tax and the unit system referendum resolution in Thursday’s work session, the commission took no action on either of those matters in its Monday business meeting. Instead, it handled an agenda composed mainly of routine items, ending with a nearly two-hour-long executive session to discuss pending litigation and security […]
