The Blount County Council of Garden Clubs, Oneonta-District II, honored Jo Akeman in the winter edition of Hortensia magazine. Hortensia is the magazine of the Garden Clubs of Alabama, and is published twice a year. Mrs. Akeman is a lifetime member of the Rose Garden Club in Oneonta, and was honored for her more than 60 years of service.
Lottie Mae Cannon Nieters will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 12.
