A special ceremony honoring county veterans of foreign wars will be held at First Baptist Church of Oneonta following the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 7. Courthouse employees join Halloween fun

Employees at the Blount County Courthouse dress like Halloween trick-or-treaters to bring smiles to children’s faces. The festively dressed ladies share treats with the excited 4-year-olds from Lester Memorial Childcare Center who were invited to the courthouse Friday, Oct. 30, for early holiday bags of treats.

City agrees to four-legged police officer and new fence at Woodland Park

The Oneonta City Council voted to accept an “unexpected offer” of a trained police canine. According to Oneonta police chief James Chapman the “going rate” for such dogs is $7500. The city can obtain this one, the chief says, for $1800 of out-of-pocket expenses. The dog, Negao, comes from another agency, which discontinued its program.
