Calling all pastors

This week’s submission is from Kenneth Mullins, Eastside Baptist Church, Arab. Reasons for Unanswered Prayers

Jeremiah 29:12-14

Have you ever wondered why your prayers are not answered? If so, then you are not alone. God tells us to bring our worries, concerns, and needs to Him, and if our prayers seem to not be answered it should bring us concern, not disgust. The Bible explains to us why the go unanswered.

Sometimes it is our prideful nature as the Pharisee in Luke 18, or remembering a sin on our life (Psalm 6:18). Yet, even in some cases it is offering unworthy service to God (Malachi 1:7); or praying with a selfish motive ( James 4:3).

If you feel like you are not getting an answer to your prayer, the first step is to examine yourself and your motive. Does it align with what God wants and what you need? Remember, all things work to His glory and purpose. Even if you don’t understand why, just trust Him.

The Blount Countian invites all local pastors to submit devotionals for publication consideration. Please limit your submission to 150 words or less. Email submissions to tbcads@otelco.net with “Devotion” as the subject line. We reserve the right to edit
