BLOUNT COUNTY COMBINED HONOR BAND CONCERT AND LUNCH Cleveland and Susan Moore High School bands have joined forces and will perform in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade as the Blount County Combined Honor Band. The group will perform a concert at Cleveland High School on Saturday, May 20, at 12:30 p.m. The $10 admission includes a chicken finger dinner plate to be served at 11 a.m. and all proceeds will benefit the group’s fundraising efforts.

ALTOONA DAY will be Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and features arts and crafts, food, music, classic cars, a kid’s zone, and much more. Headliners include the group Sweet Tea Trio, and Sonny Shroyer, who portrayed deputy Enos Strait in The Dukes of Hazzard, and coach Bear Bryant in Forrest Gump. Making the first Alabama appearance will be the Idaho Potato Truck. Phone 256-390- 0086 with questions.

BROOKSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT FISH FRY will be Saturday, May 20, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the fire hall located at the intersection of Ala 79 and U.S. 278. The $11 plate from Swamp John’s includes fish, shrimp, or chicken with all the fixings. Proceeds benefit the fire department.

LADY LAKERS OF HIGHLAND LAKE are taking orders for whole Boston butts to be picked up Saturday, May 27, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Anchor, or on Friday, May 26, with advance notice. The butts are $30 and should be pre-ordered by phoning Cheryl at 274- 8509 or 515-0432.

CLEVELAND HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1962 will have the 55-year reunion on Saturday, May 20, at Charlie B’s restaurant, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Phone 559-2766 with questions.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DINNER AT DUSK The Blount-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce will have the ‘Dinner at Dusk’ event on Saturday, May 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person and $35 per person for chamber members. Guests will enjoy live music, a four-course meal prepared by Charlie B’s, Heritage Golf, and Valor Catering. Phone the chamber at 274-2153 to reserve tickets. Space is limited.

BLOUNT COUNTY MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM will be held Saturday, May 27, beginning at 10 a.m., in front of the courthouse. Retired Col. Jim E. Davis, U.S. Marine Corps, will be guest speaker. In the event of rain, the program will be held in the Frank Green Building auditorium. The public is invited.
