Judges recuse themselves in Patrick Dorsett murder arrest
Both Blount County Circuit Judge Steven King and Blount County District Judge Sherry Burns have recused themselves from presiding in the matter of Patrick Dorsett, 26, charged with capital murder in the shooting of Bethany Evans, 23. She was found having been shot multiple times at his home in Cleveland on Feb. 25.
A replacement judge has not been appointed as yet. The case is set to go before a Blount County grand jury in May. Dorsett remains in custody without bond in the Blount County Correctional Facility. He is represented by Oneonta attorney Alex Smith.
Evans lived in Mt. Olive and was working as a nurse at Brookwood Medical Center. Evans and Dorsett were described as having an on-again, off-again relationship.
