STUDENTS IN THE NEWS SAVAN LOWERY is the recipient of a four-year University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) collegiate honors scholarship valued up to $12,000. Daughter of Scott Lowery of Remlap and Carol Ann Jordan of Hayden, Savan is a senior at Locust Fork High School where she is a member of the FCCLA, NHS, NAO, and Scholars Bowl. At UAB, she will major in high school education/Spanish.ASHLYN E. KAETZ of Hayden has earned a BM degree at the University of Montevallo. She was one of the more than 200 students who received their diplomas at fall commencement Dec. 18. Following the commencement address and award of diplomas, all graduates were inducted into the 21,000-member National Alumni Association for the university.
