OBITUARIES

ROBERT MARK ALTMAN, 51, died suddenly Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at his farm in Cleveland. He was the son of Robert Altman and June Altman. The family says all who knew him would agree that he was a kind and generous man who loved his family.

Among survivors are wife Lisa Altman; daughters Amber, Ashley, and Alise; granddaughter Marki; brother Melvin; and sister Anita.

Blount County Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. The family suggested flowers be sent to Kids Learning Center, 36177 State Hwy 79, Cleveland, and cards mailed to P.O. Box 455, Cleveland, AL 35049.

BARBARA SUE DOWNING, 66, died Nov. 7, 2009, at her home in the Rock Springs community. A native of Blount County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Lillie Mae Millwood Privett. She worked as a retail cashier and was of the Baptist faith. Predeceasing her in addition to her parents were son Terry Wayne Goble and three brothers.

Surviving are husband Joseph Downing; sons Jonathan and Michael Hudson; brother Joe Frank Privett; six grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Rock Springs Cemetery.

JOEL ANTONIO HERNANDEZ, infant son of Cody Cordero Hernandez and Tiffany LaShea Parker of Oneonta/Altoona, died Nov. 2, 2009, at UAB Hospital. He was born in Etowah County.

Surviving besides his father and mother are grandparents Mary (Louis) Hernandez of Altoona, Reba Whisenant of Oneonta, and Antonio Hernandez of Mexico; great-grandparents Ricky and Jerry Parker, Joann and James Smith, and Barbara Snell, all of Oneonta; aunts Kristan Godwin (Shannon) Gerrard of Guntersville, Alejandra Piceno and Andrea Piceno of Oneonta; uncles Don (Kayla) Godwin of Altoona, Brandan and James Whisenant of Oneonta, Emanuel Piceno of Oneonta.

David Harper officiated graveside services Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Lemley Chapel directing. Pallbearers were Cody Hernandez, Don Godwin, James Whisenant, and C.J. Martinez.

KATHERINE “KATHY” MILLER, 57, died Nov. 6, 2009, at her Blountsville residence. She was born in Richland, S.C., and was a member of Blountsville Chapter #389 of the Eastern Star. Predeceasing her were parents William Henry and Ruby Anna Addis Raines and brother Walker Pruitt.

Surviving are husband Richard Miller; son Steven Wayne (Leasha) Miller of Vinemont; stepdaughter Tracy (Wesley) Klein of Florida; brothers Tommy, Jimmy, and Darrell Pruitt, all of South Carolina; sisters June Moser of Little Rock, Ark., Margaret Parker, Evelyn Lewis, and Dell Pruitt Moore of South Carolina; grandchildren Lindsey Katharine Miller of Virginia, Morgan Alisha Miller of Blountsville, Nicole Miller, Margo Klein, Luke Weaver, and Josh Klein, all of Snead; greatgrandchild Nickolas Miller.

Preston Weston officiated services Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Blountsville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tracy Klein, Luke Weaver, Clyde Murphree, Shane Murphree, Danny Branham, and Marvin McGee.

JOBEE WALTER RICHARD, 92, died Nov. 6, 2009, at his Oneonta residence. Born in Florida, he was a journeyman for Verizon Telephone Company. He was a veteran of World War II when he flew on B17s and B29s. Predeceasing him were parents Carlyle and Ethel Louise James Richard and sister Agnes Marie Richard.

Surviving are wife Jessie Leona Gaffney Richard; sons Jim (Brenda) Richard of Texas and Dan (Melba) Richard of Oneonta; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. at Lemley Chapel. A chapel service was held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Home in Haines City, Fla. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City. Dennis Martin was a pallbearer.
