Role of the government?
      I felt very motivated after reading the editorial “Transparency”published in last week’s newspaper. I was an attendee at the October 1st meeting at the Cleveland Town Hall, where the issue of the sale of the water department and sewer was discussed.

‘The Worried Water Works’
      On Oct. 1, 2009, a special town hall meeting was called concerning some controversy over the Cleveland Water Works. Just minutes after the doors opened there was only standing room left. The results of this meeting are clear, and that is that nothing is clear about this situation at all.

Stray dogs
      I live in Misty Acres. My wife and I bought a house there three years ago. Nearly every morning at about two a.m. there is a dog barking in my yard or my neighbor’s yard – at what I don’t know. It’s not his dog and it’s definitely not my dog. The measures to put in place some sort of animal control are long overdue.

Thomas due thanks
      I read, with great interest, last week’s article regarding the County Commission’s use of beer tax revenues to make up for lost revenues, and ensure a balanced budget. To date, the Blount County Commission has not publicly thanked the person responsible for making sure that the beer tax revenues are coming to the Commission; that person is Elwyn Thomas.

Daughter proudly thanks father
