Covered Bridge Marching Festival this Saturday

The 10th annual Covered Bridge Marching Festival is set for this Saturday, Oct. 3, Oneonta High School’s Gilbreath Stadium.

This year’s festival features 23 high school bands and a special treat for those attending this year will be exhibition performances by the Oneonta Redskin Marching Band and the UAB Marching Blazers to close the show.

Admission is $5 with children under 6 admitted free and there will be no passes for re-entry to the stadium. Parking is $2 at the school parking lot and a free shuttle service will be available from the parking lot to the stadium entrance. There will be no spectator parking at the north end of the stadium, and vendors will be set up at the south end with various items for sale.

Concessions – including hamburgers, chicken, french fries and pizza – will be available throughout the day.

The festival will begin with the opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. with the first band performance scheduled for 11:45.

Bands from classes 1A through 6A will be performing. Note – Bands are classified according to size and not necessarily according to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s classifications.

Opening ceremony – 11:30 a.m.

Class 1A 11:45 – Geraldine; 12 noon – Sylvania; 12:15 – Lanett; 12:30 – Vincent; 12:45 – Ohatchee

Class 2A 1:15 – Cleveland; 1:30 – Dade County, Ga.; 1:45 – Plainview; 2 p.m. – Winston County; 2:15 – Walter Wellborn; 2:45 – Boaz; 3 p.m. – J.B. Pennington; 3:15 – Douglas; 3:30 – Crossville

Class 4A 4 p.m. – Bibb County; 4:15 – Brookwood; 4:30 – Weaver; 5 p.m. – Jacksonville; 5:15 – Corner; 5:30 – Springville

Class 5A 5:45 – Fort Payne

Supper Break – 6 pm. to 6:45

Class 6A 7 p.m. – Thompson; 7:15 – Homewood

Exhibitions – 7:30 – Oneonta; 7:45 – UAB
