The Oneonta City Council last week approved its 2010 budget, anticipating revenues of $6,254,900. The budget lists estimated expenditures of $5,968,425. The expenditures mark the fourth year in a row of reductions. The 2007 budget had appropriated $6,361,362. More...

The Blount County Children’s Center has received a grant for $28,000 from the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention, also known as the Children’s Trust Fund. The 10th annual Covered Bridge Marching Festival is set for this Saturday, Oct. 3, Oneonta High School’s Gilbreath Stadium. Another 160 tragedy
On Sept. 19, State Highway 160 in Hayden was closed down for hours due to a motor vehicle accident. Since then, many of us have learned that this accident involved a head-on collision that occurred when one driver hydroplaned across the rain-soaked highway into the lane of oncoming traffic. More...
