‘Join hands to preserve ...’

We are very blessed and fortunate to live here in the foothills of these beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Many of us cut our teeth here looking out to the mountains. These trees and waterways are part of us. Our heritage is being threatened now by the coal mining industry. My plea is to all of our people here in Blount County, and also other people of our nation interested in our environment. Let us join hands to preserve our mountains, water, roads, homes and air. Say No to coal industry in our back yard. It does not bring wealth, as we know, by past decades when we allowed it here. Our wells were sunk, our houses and churches damaged with no compensation.

Thank you for your help. We are friends and neighbors standing together.
