Two Post Offices to be closed

According to reports, the post offices at Blount Springs and Bangor will be abolished and the business that has been transacted through these two offices will be handled through the Hayden office.

The rural routes out of Bangor and Blount Springs will be labeled Hayden, routes 1, 2, and 3.

The change is said to become effective on July 27th. Mrs. Fred Boren is postmistress at the Hayden office.

Blount Countian Loses Life After Boat Sinks

Charles Edward Swann, 26, of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Cleveland, was drowned in the Gulf of Mexico Saturday, June 10, after the boat in which he and six other men had gone fishing was wrecked. The 26-foot boat sank after crashing into a buoy.

All the men, who had life jackets, left the boat about 6:30 p.m. to swim to safety, but due to heavy rain and rough water only two, the skipper and his son, survived; they reached the shore after 18 hours in the water. The bodies of the other four men were recovered Monday by boats and Coast Guard planes.

Mr. Swann, a veteran of the Korean War, in which he lost his leg, had been employed by Pasco Packing Plant in Dade City for the past four and a half years.

Shed begun at Woodland Park

Construction of a large rustic shed at Woodland Park is to begin at once, according to Mrs. David Peck, secretary of the Petunia Garden Club.

The continuous and enthusiastic work of this club has made Woodland Park a delightful gathering place for young and old from all over the county. The building of the badlyneeded shed is the latest of their many improvements in the park. It will cost between $500 and $700 and will be paid for from profits realized this year and last on the annual community birthday calendar and from donations made by individuals and other club groups.

All people who are interested in the park are urged to help with the calendar project. Anyone who wishes to make a direct contribution is urged to contact Mrs. Ray McKee.
