Town of Cleveland

“The council can do whatever this council wants to do,” town attorney Stan Glasscox retorted at Cleveland Town Council’s special meeting last month. Glasscox was responding to utilities supervisor Steve Pass’s challenge that the council couldn’t reduce the hours of Michael Walker, the water board’s full-time operator, nor do away with overtime for the position, actions called for in motions before the council. A million-dollar giggle
The government has calculated the cost for a middle-income family to raise a child to age 18 is approximately $200,000, or about $30.45 per day. So, if we ever want to be rich, should we forget about having children? The answer lies in our definition of the word “rich.” From a monetary standpoint, one in possession of an over-abundance of money or goods is said to be rich. Therefore, if material abundance is necessary for your happiness, by all means, don’t have children. More...
Astonishing authority
Background Scripture: Luke 4:31-37; 20:1-8 Devotional Reading: Isaiah 11:1-3 If you have visited the Holy Land, you almost certainly have been to Kapher-Nahum, which in our Bibles is rendered as Capernaum. This was the city that served as the headquarters of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee. Although born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, more than any other place, he considered this his true home. Today it is an archaeological site much visited by pilgrims. More...
