BENEFIT LUNCH AT SNEAD A benefit lunch with proceeds going to the building funds for the Christian Church of Susan Moore will be June 27 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church at Snead. ONEONTA’S PLAY JUNE 27 Missoula Children’s Theatre, sponsored by the Community Arts Council of Blount County, will present Beauty Lou and the Country Beast at Oneonta High School this Saturday, June 27, at 6 p.m. Admission is $2 for the play, which features local students. The project was funded, in whole or in part, by the COWACA Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc., and ACES (Alabama Cooperative Extension Service.)

SENIOR ROOK TOURNAMENT fundraiser will be held July 11 at Snead Senior Center. Entry fee is $10 per person. You can bring your own partner or be paired with another single individual. All ages are welcome as you do not have to be a senior citizen to play. Registration is between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until it is done. First- and secondplace trophies will be awarded. The concession stand will offer drinks, hamburgers, hotdogs, and chips. BLUEGRASS AND BARBECUE will be offered Saturday, June 27, at Pine Mountain Community Center between 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Bluegrass jam sessions under the barbecue shed feature James and Ruby Keener; Wills Valley Bluegrass; Allen Senn and the Renfroe Mountain Medicine Show; Pine Mountain Bluegrass Band; the Carrell Family; Buddy Bowman, Roland Brasher, and the Slick Creek Ramblers; Behind the Times; and Azalea Ridge. Directions: From Springville – west through four-way stop in Springville on Murphree’s Valley Road to crest of mountain, left on Pine Mountain Road, then three-plus miles straight ahead. From Remlap – Pine Mountain Road across from the Super Saver to top of mountain, then left to community center. From Oneonta – south on Ala 75, left on Remlap Drive just past Mitchell Farm, left again on Valley Grove Road, bear left at stop sign three miles ahead.
