NEWBRIEFS
BLOUNT COUNTY CHILDREN'S CENTER will benefit from open houses planned at four locations of members of the Blount County Antique Dealers Association. Dry Creek Antiques in Cleveland, Pat's Antiques on U.S. 231 North, Rosa's Gifts in Rosa, and Nickel's Place Antiques on county road 36 behind Lamb Stone will donate 25 percent of all sales made Saturday, Dec. 6, to the Children's Center. Dealers urge visitors to bring their gift lists and appetites, as refreshments will be served during the all-day event. For more information, call Wade Hudgins, 274-9091.

BLOUNT'S COPD SUPPORT GROUP meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the St. Vincent's Blount private dining room. The information given in the Nov. 26 article about the group gave the wrong date. Phyllis Downing, 274-9184, wanted members to be aware that no change in date, time, or place of meetings had been made. HOPE HOUSE FREE VEHICLE will be given to someone who meets all the qualifications set out by the organization. To be eligible, one must (1) be a resident of Blount County; (2) have a valid Alabama driver license; (3) be able to obtain and keep insurance on the vehicle; (4) be a household that does not own a vehicle; and (5) be a working single parent with children. If you meet all these qualifications, please call the Hope House at 625-4673.

FLU SHOTS WILL BE GIVEN Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8:30 am. to 12:30 p.m by Snead State nursing students at J&M Pharmacy, 2040 2nd Avenue East, Oneonta. Shots are $25 each and may be given to those 4 years and older. Questions? Phone 274-2740.

PET PHOTOS WITH SANTA will be taken by Blount County Animal Shelter volunteers Sunday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trussville PetSmart. BCASI will receive a donation from each photo package sold.
