OBITUARIES
EARNESTEEN WALLACE BARTLETT, 89, of Snead, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Oneonta. The Blount native was the daughter of the late Albert Arthur and Eula Pearl Green Wallace. She was a retired nurse and a member of High Mound Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son Charles Frank Brooks, brother Dink Wallace, and sister Louise Marchant.

Surviving are husband, Samon J. Bartlett of Oneonta; daughter Katherine Lowe of Fultondale; grandsons Steven Lowe and Daryl Lowe; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Larry Camp officiated at services Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Oneonta's Valley Chapel Funeral Home. Interment was at Douglas Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Bartlett, Dallas Bartlett, Phillip Bartlett, Carter Bartlett, Chase Lowe, and Jeremy Fuller.

GARY WAYNE BLACKMON, 59, of Allgood, died Nov. 26, 2008, at St. Vincent's Blount. Born in Etowah County, he was the son of the late Durrell "Dude" and Virginia Smith Blackmon. He was a member of Clear Springs United Methodist Church and was retired after 28 years with the St. Clair Correctional Facility. Besides his parents,he was predeceased by first wife Glenda Darlene Ballew Blackmon; brother Tim Blackmon; father- and mother-in-law David and Shirley Carroll.

Surviving are his wife Loise Glandon Blackmon of Allgood; daughter Alicia (Gary) Tolbert of Straight Mountain; son Bryan (Courtney) Blackmon of Trussville; grandchildren Madison and Megan Tolbert of Straight Mountain; stepson Richard Foister of Allgood; stepdaughter Lisa Russell of Altoona; stepgrandchildren Corey Mashburn and Austin Russell of Altoona; stepbrother Steve (Betty) Roddam of Oneonta; stepsisters Roxie Owens of Straight Mountain and Sandra (William) Hogeland of Oneonta.

Jeff Lyles and Larry Sorrow conducted services Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. from Lemley Chapel with interment in Blount Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers were David Gaddy, Richard Foister, Delane Moon, James Moon, Howard Holmes, and Robert Glandon. Honorary pallbearers were Danny and Charles Spurling, Danny Nichols, and Johnny Gladden, and special singers were Renea and Frankie Bibby. The family suggests memorials may be made to Clear Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund, 395 County Road 15, Oneonta, AL 35121.

EDDIE M. BRADFORD, 75, of Albertville died Nov. 29, 2008, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Marshall County. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathelane Bradford.

Surviving are special friend Erlene Lang of Albertville; daughter Freida (James) Hall of Albertville; son David (Karen) Bradford of Oneonta; grandchildren Mandi (Daniel) Courington and Tiffany Hall; sisters Catherine Colvin of Boaz, Patsy (Joe) Hass of Scottsboro, Carolyn (Larry) Hicks of Scottsboro; sisters-in-law Idell Bradford, Wanda (Michael) Mann, and Bobbie Holderfield.

Billy Joe Watson and Dustin Brock conducted services Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. from Albertville Memorial Chapel with interment following at Lathamville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Ragsdale, Mike Smith, Jack Andrews, Chris Mann, Bruce Hunt, Fred Gielle, Truman McBrayer, and Tim Gore.

IDA LORENE CLOWDUS, 73, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at her Oneonta residence. A member of Tait's Gap Baptist Church, she was predeceased by parents John Theodore and Ida Walker Clowdus Sr. and brothers John T. Clowdus Jr., Harold Clowdus, and Robert Earl Clowdus.

Surviving are sister Dolores (Jay) Johnson of Oneonta and brother Herman (Agnes) Clowdus of Springville.

Don Garrison conducted services Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. from Valley Chapel Funeral Home. Interment was at Nectar Cemetery.

TROY EPHRAM CORNELIUS, 72, of Oneonta died Nov. 26, 2008, at St. Vincent's East. A Blount native, he was retired after 30 years with the Alabama State Highway Department. He was predeceased by parents Velpo and Martha Ruby Dailey Cornelius and wife Ethel Mae Royster Cornelius. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Alliance Church.

Surviving are children Ethel Dale (Steve) Stancil of Altoona; Barbara Gail (Anthony) Adams of Arab, Melinda (Paul) Fore of Altoona; Troy Eddy (Carla) Cornelius of Allgood; Thomas (Aretha) Cornelius of Williams Settlement, Jimmy (Darla) Cornelius of Easley, Emily (Chris) Whitlock of Toccoa, Ga., and Chris Cornelius of Easley; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Lowe of Easley; and special caregiver Ronnie Short.

Ralph Gardner, Bill Serena, and Steve Hallman conducted services Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1 p.m. from Grace Fellowship Alliance Church. Burial was at Easley Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Fore, Jamie Fore, Eddy Cornelius, Tyler Cornelius, Chas Cornelius, Tim Parker, Brian Horton, Daniel Cornelius, and Jake Whitlock.

ROBERT "BOBBY" ELLISON, 65, of Springville, died Nov. 25, 2008, at St. Vincent's East. He was a native of Blount County and was employed as a landscaper. Predeceasing him were his parents Clifford Doyle and Glodis Carroll Ellison and one son Robert Doyle Ellison.

Surviving are his wife Linda Walker Ellison of Springville; daughter Lucinda "Cindy" (Lars) Ericsson of Huntsville; grandchildren Tiffany and McKenzie Ellison, Walker and Joshua Ericsson; brothers Charles, Bill, Wayne, Larry, Johnny and Michael Ellison; sisters Hazel Owen and Linda McClung.

Jerry Owens conducted services Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. from Valley Chapel Funeral Home with interment following in Springville Cemetery.

BARBARA FOSTER, 53, of Blountsville, died Nov. 23, 2008, at St. Vincent's Blount. A Cullman County native, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Opal Grigsby Woodard. She had been employed as a waitress and was a member of Graves Gap Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Thomas Wayne Woodard and Norman C. Woodard, and a sister Louise Jordan.

Surviving are sisters Jean Whittington and Sandra (Jerry) Staton of Blountsville and Myrtie Jo (Gene) Bailey of Shelby County and a brother Terry Woodard of Smokerise.

Graveside services were conducted by J.T. Palmer Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at Austin Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Farley, John Morgan, Keith Woodard, Shannon Woodard, Chuck Whittington, and Steve Adams.

R. E. (LAURA) HANDLEY, 85, of Royal, died Nov. 27, 2008, at TLC Nursing Home, Oneonta. She was a Blount County native and a member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. Predeceasing her were parents Steve and Renia Lewis Alldredge; husband J.O. Handley; three brothers; three sisters.

Surviving are son Kenneth (Patsy) Handley of Blountsville; grandchildren Rodney Handley and Lisa Franklin; great-grandchildren Jonathan Handley, Josha Franklin, Adam Franklin, and Meagan Handley; sisters Jewell Silvey and Elenor Foster of Blountsville; brothers Dwight Alldredge of Blountsville and Ed Alldredge of Oneonta.

Charlie Alldredge conducted services Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. from Valley Chapel, Oneonta. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rodney Handley, Jonathan Handley, Adam Franklin, Josha Franklin, Terry Franklin, and Joe Lynn Gray.

MAVIS RUTH HAYNES, 74, of Oneonta, died Nov. 29, 2008, at St. Vincent's East. The Blount native was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and a retired seamstress from the Wrangler plant in Oneonta. She was predeceased by parents Ethridge and Eunice Ritchie Haynes and sisters Carolyn June Haynes and Janet Hale.

Surviving are daughters Dawn (Dale) Hawkins of Walnut Grove and Jan (Tracy) Clowdus of Oneonta; sons Jimmy (Carol) Marsh of Trussville, Michael Marsh of Rosa, and Joe (Andrea) Marsh of Blountsville; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Evelyn Ellis of Berry Mountain.

Randy Hale conducted services Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. from Pine Grove Baptist Church. Interment was at Dailey's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Marsh, Daniel Hawkins, Joshua Marsh, Shane Best, Roy Holston, and Ted Green.

SUMIE YANASE (KYOKO) INGRAM, 74, of Dothan and formerly of Blountsville, died Nov. 21, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, Dothan. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Tsuneo and Kyoko Suzuki Yanase and wife of Harold C. Ingram.

Surviving besides her husband is sister Harue Watanabe of Katsuura-Shi Chiba, Japan. She also had a brother, who is deceased.

Dennis Martin conducted services Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sid Martin, Philip Martin, Joe Bullard, Robert Bullard, Freddie Moore, and Larry F. Smith. The family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36303.

IMOGENE JOSEPHINE McGLAUGHN KILGORE, 89, of Altoona, died Nov. 23, 2008, at St. Vincent's Blount. She had been employed as a cook at Altoona Health Care and was a member of Altoona Church of God. She was predeceased by her parents Sylvester and Josephine Lindsey McGlaughn; husband Thomas Greene "Tom" Kilgore; son Jimmy Wayne Kilgore; daughter Margaret Eloise Foster; sisters Elsie Henegar, Golden Ellis, and Myra Jo Tucker; brother Elbert McGlaughn.

Surviving are sons Thomas (Nancy) Kilgore, Billy Kilgore, and Phillip Kilgore, all of Altoona; grandchildren Barry, Stacy, Susan, "Buck," Sharon, Micheal, and Anjanepte; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Cooper and Harold Coe conducted services Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. from Valley Chapel. Interment followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at old Snead with grandsons as pallbearers.

ANNIE LOU "BOOTS" MORTON, 84, died Nov. 25, 2008, at her residence in Oneonta. A Blount native, she was retired as assistant manager of Huffman High School lunchroom. She was predeceased by parents John Franklin and Cora Ether Keener Tolbert; husband Dalton Brady Morton; brothers Lovie, Ott, and Shorty Tolbert; and sister Myrt Robison.

Surviving are son Michael (Cathy) Morton of Straight Mountain; grandson Christopher Michael (Jamie) Morton of Oneonta; four great-grandchildren; brother Jack Tolbert of Straight Mountain; sister Robbie Roberts of Straight Mountain.

Services were conducted Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. from Bethlehem Baptist Church.

JACKSON WESLEY SMITH, 65, of Hueytown, died Nov. 21, 2008, at UAB Hospital. A Nashville, Tenn., native, he was the son of the late Jackson and Odie Hand Smith Sr. He had been a tools specialist with BE&K Engineering. An Episcopalian, he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was predeceased by brother Jimmy W. Smith Sr., in addition to his parents.

Surviving are his wife Shirley Weeks Smith; son Robert Horton; daughters Carol Horton, Joanna McClendon, and Jennifer Smith; brothers Jeffrey W. Smith Sr., Joseph W. Smith Sr., and Jesse W. Smith Sr.; sister Janice W. Sloan of Rosa; three grandchildren.

Jerry Gargus conducted graveside services Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 3 p.m. at Dailey's Chapel, Blount County, Cleveland Funeral Home directing.

JAMES MYRTIS STIDHAM, 80, died Nov. 25, 2008, in Oneonta. A Blount native, he was the son of the late Elton and Fannie Tyra Stidham. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired as a welder with Medicraft. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife Gwen Pearman Stidham and brother Calvin Stidham.

Surviving are son Jimmy (Susan) Stidham; brother Clarence Stidham; grandchildren Brandon and Kelly Stidham and Matt Stidham; great-grandchild Colton Stidham.

Haskel Adamson conducted services Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. from Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Cleveland Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brandon Stidham, Matt Stidham, Danny Stidham, Brian Hallmark, Billy Woff, and Randy Beason.

ARTHUR FRED TAYLOR, 66, of Blountsville, died Nov. 25, 2008, at St. Vincent's Blount. Born in South Carolina, he was a retired logger. He was the son of the late Wreath Rodgers Taylor and the late Madalyn Leatherman Crane.

Surviving are his wife Jane Evatt Taylor of Brooksville; daughters Amanda Taylor(Jason) Frost and Jillian Taylor (Dewayne) Pritchett, both of Scottsboro; stepson Randy Lee Palmer of Fyffe; stepdaughters Kathy Ann Palmer (Ernie) Johnson of Kilpatrick and Cindy (Glen) Harris of Fyffe; grandchildren Taylor Elizabeth Nichols and Olivia Jean Frost; stepgrandchildren Matthew and J.D. Palmer, Kenneth and Gina Cain, Josh Harris and Sara Faulkner; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Willard and Buddy Taylor; sisters Florence Curley, Fay Brown, Teresa McFadden,Linda Taylor, Delaine Taylor, and Elaine Webber.

Charles Brown, Randy Johnson, and John Ferguson conducted services Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. from Lemley Chapel. Interment was at Lambert Cemetery. Pallbearers were David and Ricky Knighten, Josh Harris, Kenneth Cain, Jason Frost, Dewayne Pritchett, Ed Evatt, and John Ferguson.

WILLIAM B. WINTER, 50, died Nov. 28, 2008, at his residence in Trussville. He and his wife Deborah L. Winter formerly lived in Cleveland. Before his illness, he had worked for Lisco, which is based in Oneonta.

Surviving besides his wife are sister Karen Knight Winter of Oxford, Miss., and sons Steven R. Sisson, Brett R. Sisson, and James E. Sisson, and seven grandchildren, all of Birmingham.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. at Locust Fork Baptist Church. Ashes will be transported to Oxford, Miss., for a brief service Sunday, Dec. 7.
